DNA database12.02.00am GMT Fri 8th Jan 2010 Dear Khalid Mahmood, As you maybe aware Tuesday 5th January the Telegraph carried an article titled 'DNA solves just one in 150 crimes' which carried figures showing that the DNA database only helps to solve only one in every 150 crimes. I hope that you will now add your voice to the calls on the government to stop dragging their feet and remove all innocent people from the database immediately. The enormous increase in the size of the DNA database, populated by a million innocent people, has not led to an increase in the amount of crimes it helps solve. The European Court of Human Rights has made its position clear but the Government seems hell bent on ignoring it. Please can you lobby Ministers and ask them to must stop dragging their feet and remove all innocent people from the database immediately. Yours sincerely, Adam Teladia
