UNA Birmingham presents The United Nations and the European Union a talk by Lord Hannay of Chiswick an Independent member of the House of Lords (since 2001), Chair of United Nations Association - UK and a member of the House of Lords EU Select Committee on Saturday 6th October 2007 from 2.30pm at Birmingham & Midland Institute in Birmingham

Lord Hannay of Chiswick was formerly the UK Permanent Representative to the United Nations (1990-1995); UK Permanent Representative to the European Community (1985-1990) and has held posts in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the United Kingdom Mission to the European Community in Brussels. Lord Hannay of Chiswick was also head of the Foreign Office Energy Department from 1977 to 1979 and was the British Government's Special Representative for Cyprus (1996-2003) and is Pro-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham.
