A political campaigner

Busy, Busy, Busy

Since my last post I have been a little busy which has prevented me from further posting to this site. My last post was on the day I handed in my dissertation so after returning home that day I slept to recover from the lack of sleep that I had over the few days prior to that.

That was followed by the local elections. I helped out in Wolverhampton on the eve of the poll where my friend Robin Lawrence won in Park Ward, beating Labour and ensuring the Conservatives came third in a ward which is a Target seat for them. Unfortunately our result in Birmingham where I attended a count was not great, we lost one seat however we made a gain in Hodge Hill ward of Hodge Hill constituency which is proof that we are making progress in the parliamentary seat and that Home Office Minister Liam Byrne may have some difficulties at the next General Election.

The local elections were followed by the Bank Holiday when I was away from home spending time with some relatives and catching up with cousins and friends.

As soon as I returned I had to finish off some work for University which had to be handed in on 8th May about A Vindication of the Rights of Woman and how relevant Mary Wollstonecraft's work is today. I then had to work towards two further deadlines for 10th May one being on the electoral and political rise of Hamas in Palestine in the 21st century.

On Thursday I went out with some friends to watch What I Heard About Iraq which is a documentary drama about the conflict in Iraq, using direct quotes from politicians, military chiefs, soldiers and Iraqi citizens to reveal the story behind the situation in Iraq. One of my friends has agreed to write a review of this which I will publish later in the week.

I have a few assessments left at university which I imagine will keep me busy this week and next. Then on Friday 25th May I am off to Malawi for three weeks to spend sometime with my family and friends, so I still have a lot of shopping and packing to do.
